    Margaret’s Wedge….?…

One of our new posters Martgaret1954 has been telling us of her Wedge cushion.

I got one of these about a year ago but am still confused by it. I know it is
all clever and ergonomic but it doesn’t work for me. What am I
    doing wrong?

Being a bargian hunter (or cheapskate) I bought it in a charit shop with
no instructions. I put it on a lovely surdy flat based chair, first with the
slope facing forwards, then facing backwards. Either feels absolutely
    weird.

Which is right ? Or have I missed the point completely ?

normally the thick side goes to the back. the idea being that it tilts your pelvis to a correct angle making you sit up and alert.

I only really find wedges of benefit in the car to correct the car seat slop. in any normal seat it just tilts me forward too much.

    hope this makes sense

Is the sensation weird because it is shifting you from your normal to something different? I often get it with new foot drop splints, it is like new shoes they first highlight all the errors and then you adjust.

    That is it….I suppose….

Have ended up using it vertically as a lumbar support on the sofa,
it is great at that so I cannot lose..

    that sort of thing…..

it has lovely and pretty design on it and I use it
as a vertical back support where it is not quite so bulbous as the “McKenzie Roll”, I
    have been trying out.

    So it is progress anyway.

Pleased to have the logic anyway.

    Just tried my wedgie again….

You are right, I am forced forwards, upright and alert…
    ….but not comfortable……..!..

I tried one but didn’t get on with it. Like cat it only helped to correct an already sloping seat. Balance is such a big issue for me and so difficult to get right so that I am not straining muscles in my neck or having to dig my feet into the floor to stay steady.

It is all trial and error I guess :?
