Inspiring fundraising
I just wanted to post a quick update about some of our fundraising, more specifically to let you know how much positive feedback we get when we share your fundraising stories. Here’s just one an example:
Last week we posted a good luck message to Laura Bizzey on Facebook. Laura has muscular dystrophy and was taking on a 10k walk to fundraise for us.
Straight away people started posting messages up, including one from Laura’s mum Katie
‘www.justgiving.com/laurabizzeyswalk to read Laura’s story – Laura walks everyday with Muscular Dystrophy’
I thought that was really inspiring, so I used it as the basis for my @Target MD tweet about Laura’s walk
http://twitter.com/#!/TargetMD/status/66523125080260608
Almost straight away seven people re-tweeted this (if you don’t use Twitter, this means they sent that message to their followers – a bit like forwarding an email to your whole address book) and there were three really nice messages of support tweeted by…
Hollie Saxton http://twitter.com/#!/HollieLs/status/66529693666512897
Nick Watson http://twitter.com/#!/nickpwatson/status/66528519164923904
Robert Ryan http://twitter.com/#!/Boab10/status/66525481574465537
Laura’s just giving page is a great example; it has a nice photo, explains the event, why she is doing it and it is really inspiring. This is a quote from it:
‘I am also walking this year for my friend Eden. Eden cant walk, she never has. Eden has another strain of Muscular Dystrophy which renders her a lot more disabled than I am. She is a great friend of mine and she is a very brave 11 year old girl. So I am proud to be walking for both us and when it gets tough – I shall just be glad that I have the choice!’
So the moral of the story is, share your fundraising stories because people love them And if you are not up on Facebook, Twitter etc, just let us know and we’ll do the sharing for you!
