    hyperbaric oxygenation.

    Hello talk md ers.
I moved home about a year ago and got out of the talk MD habit.
I’m going for hyperbaric oxygenation next week. It sounds like it has the potential to do some good.

It’s used quite a lot for people with MS, migraine, broken bones and all sorts of health problems.

The bit of reading that I’ve done seems to say that there’s little conclusive evidence for it working for many conditions but lots of people go for it regularly and benefit from it.
The lady at my local centre in Norwich told me today of a lady with MD who goes there regularly. I should meet her next week.
Has anybody with MD tried Hyperbaric Oxygenation?

I’ll let you know how I get on late next week.
    All the best.
    Michael

    Wow, this is interesting.

Do not recall great amount of discussion on this subject.

Thanks for letting us know. Do tell us how it works out and every possible relevance.

    Welcome back.

Wow, didn’t realise we folks in Norwich were so forward thinking. You must be western side, I’m eastern, we still use horse n carts, candles and consider Suffolk foreign.

Like tangy I have not heard of this as a treatment, I will look forward to hearing all about it and what benefits you felt

    Hello,
Thanks for posting the replies. AMGmod, (I’m central darling! I’ve lived here a year and love it).
Thought I’d give you an update after my hyperbaric oxygenation last week.

It’s still early days. Some literature say that you need it 5 days a week for 4 weeks to get the oxygen levels up in the body. The centre that I went to are only open 3 days a week so I went last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for an hours session followed each time by a sausage roll.

The people there who mostly go once a week or fortnight say that the benefits are subtle but they notice feeling worse if they don’t go. Some of them have been going for 15 years or so and say that they can’t tell if it does them any good. I find this a little strange and it leads me to think that it must be worthwhile as they wouldn’t go and pay £10 a time if it wasn’t helping at all.

I’m fairly sure that I have had a slight but significant improvement in reduction of headaches and migraine, a bit more energy and I’m a bit more able to sit up for longer periods. The benefits are subtle and I don’t think are placebo.

After going in the chamber I feel a bit like I used to feel after I had been swimming or to the gym when I was more mobile and was more able to do those things. What people might call the endorphins kicking in after exercise which you can’t get if you can’t exercise.

I don’t want to get peoples hopes up too much. It certainly is no miracle cure but I think that anything that makes us feel less fatigued, less pain and a little less shitty generally is worth a go. I don’t want to rave about it too much in case it’s just a case of beginners luck or placebo (or indeed the sausage rolls) that gave me the benefit.

I’m going Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week and will report back.

    All the best,
    Michael

 oh the restorative endorphins of a good sausage roll! You’ve survived a whole year midst the rural backwaters hey/? Well only another 24 or so before we born and bred locals stop referring to you as the new comer and call ya a new local :D

Anything that can help rest our symptoms or brighten our minds cannot be a bad thing. I wouldn’t consider it, purely because the cost of getting to and fro [and multiple sausage rolls] would run quite expensive.

Let us know how you get on over time

    Hi AMGmod,
I’ll let you know how I get on after this week. It certianly seems to have helped but time will tell.

Yes, I’m really greatful for it. The money in petrol plus the £10 per session (3 times a week) is taking a fair chunk of my benefits but I’ll do pretty much anything within reason if it helps. They say that it’s donations and suggest £10.00 per session. I feel a bit obliged to pay it. It is very reasonably priced but that doesn’t make it very easy when one’s brassic. If it were private it would cost between £50 and £300 per session (from the limited research I’ve done).

If you did want to go I could probably pick you up in the car but unfortunately I don’t have a wheelchair access vehicle or any strength to do any lifting. You could maybe bring someone else to do any lifting if you need it. (Sorry I don’t know how mobile you are). It wouldn’t be too difficult and I’m already spending the money on the petrol to get myself there. Just a thought for the future possibly if you did want to do it. It’s not for everybody.
    Cheers,
    Michael
