can anybody help me on speeding up my rehoming. I have been stuck in doors now, for over 18mth. unless you count the hospital trips. I am no longer safe enough to be walking about, alone on my own. I knew that my mobility was degrading quickly 2yrs ago.so I purchased my power chair. this was after the council assured me that they would put me a ramp in. however once I bought the chair, they decided that they couldn’t build the ramp. so I asked for planning permission to have one built. again they said no. so I bought a folding ramp. this was stolen, I rang the council again and they with their sympathetic ears. told me I had to be rehomed. so I applied for rehoming, that was the April of 20014 and ive not moved.
I have done all the bidding on properties, at last count it was 64 properties. I have rang them and told them that I am now housebound. they replied with, you have all the adaptions you need inside the property and outside isn’t our problem.
I have sent letters from my consultant and GP, still no luck. I have written to my local MP, no reply.
can anybody give me any advice on my next please.
going slightly stir crazy stefstefan

This is not good! Are you in contact with with your local OTs? They have been very helpful to others I know in getting things done, balls rolling etc. It can be down to area unfortunately as to how good and joined up support is – for example, the South West are excellent I hear. Are you in touch with your MDUK Care Adviser?
I’m not surprised you are going stir crazy, I blooming would!

I can’t believe that your still going through this rubbish!
Which local authority are you under and is it a housing association flat? You do need to get an OT report re the outside and access to the property and if you get care ask Social Services to weigh in!
They do sometimes all need their heads banging together!
Would you like me to give it a go for you lol!Make a nuiscence of yourself & email every single one of the heads of relevant departments and agencies that you usually gets them at least talking to one another!
Good luck & let us know how it goes.

There’s an All Party Parliamentary Group MD meeting tomorrow discussing housing adaptions. I wonder whether your story could be shared at that? Let me know if you would like to and I will try to help pass it on to my friend who is attending.

when I last saw my consultant, he was arranging for me to see an OT. however he did say I will be waiting a minimum of 6mth.

September 15, 2015 at 5:01 pm #96893Re: housingHi Littlestef,
I’m also going to the Parliamentary Group meeting too! I intend to mention all of these type of problems if I get the chance to speak lol!You could get a private OT report, they’re not too expensive, I was quoted £80 for an assessment and report.
Just the mention of me getting a private OT report was enough to kick my local authority into action as they hate an independent person interfering within their theifdom! Are you in a council or housing association property?
What was the reason given by the local planning for turning you down?I could try & help you if you like? You could PM me & i’ll give you my phone number.
Good luck M
