Hello! This is my first time on a forum!
I’m 46 years old, happily married and have been retired from full time employment for the past 2 years. I’ve adapted reasonably well to the quietness of being on my own a lot as my husband does shifts. I have lovely carers who look after me when Hubby isn’t here. I have limb girdle muscular dystrophy.
I wonder if any of you have any experience of botox injections to help control bladder spasms. I was catheterised urethrally originally but after 6 months of hell … Frequent infections and horrendous spasms, had a supra pubic catheter fitted. This too didn’t work well due to spasms and I am now having 4 pad changes a day. This is very restrictive and I don’t like feeling wet all the time. My Urologist has suggested Botox injections in my bladder but they don’t seem to have any evidence from an MD patient/patients. I am concerned as they mentioned that it could cause paralysis and I dont want to risk losing the limited ability I have now.
I would greatly value any experiences any of you have of this.
Thanks for reading my post.
