    Hands Free Bargain……

I have been complaing on the forum for ages about pains in the arms when
holding the telephone but doing nothing about it.

Decided the answer was a Telephone headset and whilst researching the
subject found one on E-Bay that I got one for the knock down price of £ 2.70

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260909041089?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
    (scroll down a bit)

So my question is, are other people having this same problem, is this kind of
headset the answer and will this one do the job (descibed as universal) ?

I bid with 8 seconds to go and “sniped” the high bidder. I hate it when they
    do that to me.

So you’re one of those last second bidders who have nerves stronger than mine  !!!! LOL – fun init.

Phones, I wish I could get a blue tooth home phone. I saw an advert once recently for a touch screen home phone, tried to remember the companies name and then forgot it, tried googlng but got nowhere. It was like the smart phones but not a mobile a home landline digital one … of course I have not seen the advert since

I do not have much problem with my current phone. Sometimes grabbing it in a hurry my fingers do not always co-operate, but holding it is not too bad. Unless my bestest is chatting to me in which case I have to tell her to hush while I switch arms, positions etc.

argos does a gadget called picture box that you program inline with you regular handset. you preset your 11 bffs and then you just press the mini pic of them…simples

    Re: Hands Free Bargain……

Just the topic I was thinking of starting lol good old forum :-)

    My set up is currently:

Landline = BT Converse 425. Had it with access to work many years ago. Has a handset, largish easy buttons, and when you answer it you either lift the receiver, press handsfree for speaker or headset to send the audio to the headset. It’s what call centres used to use. I have a Plantronic? headset (light weight, over ear with speech clarification thingy for crystal clear audio and speech). The phone has a special socket at the back to take such headsets as the term ‘universal’ is a bit misleading (apparently most will work but only with adapters and a landline phone with a headset socket).

I either used handsfree if I can speak loud enough or my headset which picks up my faint voice. However, the receiver is broken and the audio is not being sent to the right place. Basically the whole system was about £200 which I can’t afford. My headset is still working though but I can’t find a way to adapt it for the computer!

So I was thinking of alternatives… we don’t use the phone (I tend to talk via written means as talking makes me tired within minutes and hubs never calls anyone!) but for emergencies we do need a landline. I’m keen on the cheap Skype deals (computer headsets are cheaper (I have a microphone for loudspeaker) and you can get a landline number but of course if your computer isn’t on it goes to answer machine. Was cheaper than paying telephone rental though for just a few phone calls!

I usually make short calls on my mobile (I have one tap picture App to dial the person which is cool and easy) and put it on handsfree (but my soft voice isn’t often picked up and I can’t put a bluetooth headset on quick enough)

…. so if anyone finds out anything else or a bargain then would be interesting :-)

One thing I find really annoying is people who say either phone or use a text phone (like the Job Centre). As someone who can’t use a phone at the moment very well and communicates via e-mail, they just assume people with speech difficulties will have a text phone – maybe for me that would actually be better so I can type a message but they cost a fortune and it seems silly when I don’t use the phone that much :-/

Love the one with the pics on. That will come one day.

I have the BT converse just like Criptic, so you are right I just plug
into the headset socket on the bottom so will have no problems on
compatability. Also have the loudspeaker so do not actually need it but when other people
are in the room it is good to have a privacy option.

Yes I am the ultimate sniper. If you bid in the last ten seconds the blighters
do not have a chance to bid again and outbid you.

Oww the Argos thingy looks cool …. can see me travelling down that route if Santa brings me any crinklies this year. Worth additional investigating. I have a two hand set digital so the second hand set can be in the bedroom but does not need a phone sicket [if you get me], if the niy little box can work with my existing stuff, that would be the clincher.

My BT headset has turned up.

It is very light and easy to wear and just perfect to wear for long calls.

BUT, it is dead as a doornail. Not a peep of sound.

Not at all worried. My first reaction has been to send the seller a friendly e-mail
saying I cannot get it to work and please can he help me as it is so important to me.

This is the joy of buying on E-Bay. At the very worst, if the seller is a bad un and vanishes off
the face of theearth I will get my money back from E-Bay. Also the seller has had 70 previous
sales and has 100% positive feedback. He has no incentive to rip me off as one negative feedback
from me will be there for all to see and affect his business. Which shop can you go in and
demand to see what the previous 70 customers thought of him?

Since 2004 this is my 319th e-bay order and the first with any problem, so I am not
    worried. It will be sorted.

    Thev system is working.

Just had concerned e-mail from seller.

She is searching for info here here and everywhere and going to
    get her engineer huuby involved.

She is very worried I will give her a negative feedback that eveyone can see
    and affect her business.

    The system works.

yes you got to love Ebay.

I started on ebay around 04 as well. First sale was for a giggle. sold a Bicardi Breezer promo Tom Cat- cat coller. cost me nothing, was a collect token caps deal. sold it for £25.. only had a couple of itmes never turn up. never spend more than the itmes worth and never take a high risk with my cash as never found Ebay and paypal very helpfull in getting moeny back. if the seller has cleared the paypal account you get nothing or in the case of one of my items ie dodgy DS game the customs peeps took all the cash as evidance..

But for the 700 odd feedback for buys/sells I have had very little bother. had a few dodgy buyers :(

Good point Cat, I forgot to mention PAYPAL.

This is the worry free part of E-Bay.

You give your bank details or card number only to PAYPAL.

The person you are buying from never gets any access at all to your
details and you are secure. Plus up to £ 500 E-Bay will give you
    a refund for any problem.

Two more e-mails from my worried seller.

She has called in every techy favour and now the Headset works perfectly.

Just given her excellent feedback for elping me. Perfcet example of the
    E-bay system at work.

The BT Accord 10 Headset is just perfect. Light as a feather, clear as a
bell and two hands free. No more arm pains.

I have now discovered you do not have to shout down telephones because
the peeps are so far away.

    Great Item for £ 2.70.
