I am trying to find a flat for a disabled friend of mine (not MD), and we are fidning it very difficult. As soon as she metions she is disabled and does not work, the flat becomes unavailable. She can afford to pay for it, but there does seem to be a stigma about it.
If anyone has had a similar experience would they be able to share any advice that might make it easier please? I should add that we did approach the ocal council who said they coudl not help until she had lived here for three years!

what about going direct to the letting agent who can verify her income is guaranteed and verify any references she has from ex landlord.

Shelter may also be able to help with advice and also advice on agency’s who aid in deposits

Thank you Catatude. That is extremely helpful. We have also tried going direct to the letting agents and they might consider her if she has a guarantor. I will of course do that, I just wish she is taken on her own merits.
