    FAQ – Web Links

    As you look around the forum you will see people have added links to other areas of the forum or pages on the MDC web site or else where. Here I will show you have to put these into your posts. When you press the button you will find the markers placed in your post. These are impotant as they are the piece of code that tells your browser that a link to another web page is between them.

    As an example, lets suppose you want to put in a link to the MDC Home Page. Depending how you want the link to look there are two styles you can use. The most straight forward is to type the address between the {url][/url] markers, therefore becomes
    http://www.muscular-dystrophy.org

    Alternatively if you want the link to show as a name or phrase amend the code slightly, like so
    becomes
    MD Home Page

    Top Tip::

    When you click on the web links, they replace the forum page in your browser and you may have to use your back button or go to the TalkMD link to return to the forum. Here’s a little tip I’ve learnt that works anywhere.

    Place your cursor on the link you want to go to

    PC Users – right click your mouse
    Mac User – hold the ctrl button and click your mouse

    A little menu appears which allows you to click on choices, such as “Open in New Window” or “Open in New Tab”

    That way you don’t lose the page you were at originally.
