FAQ – Avatars
WHAT IS AN AVATAR?
It is the little picture just under your username that appears whenever you post a thread. It’s a way of easy eye personalisation of your posts and sometimes makes it easier to find a post in a thread when you know who made it.
It does not have to be a picture like mesamb or sar78, it can be a computer generated picture like mine, of my initials “AMG”
It does have to meet a few standard requirements – it must be a visually acceptable image, nothing explicit, sexual, violent etc. It can be no bigger than 90 pixels high or wide [most image editing software has a resize option where you can specify dimensions] and it must be a small file size [no more than 97kb]. I advise using your image software editing option to “Save For Web”
When you have created and edited your chosen avatar click the “User Control Panel” at the upper left of the screen. Click on the tab “profile” and select “Edit Avatar”
You are then given the option to “Upload From Your Machine”, click the “Choose File” button and locate where your picture is on your computer. When selected choose “Submit”
At the moment there is no gallery of default avatars to choose from.
