The great thing about keyrings is they come in all shapes and sizes plus you can have them as personalized as you want them to be with no limitations! :D

The “other” end of a walking stick is great for hooking a tuna and sweetcorn sandwich from the top shelf of the chiller cabinet at Budgens because they will insist on putting them up there. ;)

Works for hooking other things too.

    My Crutches:
    1. I use them to open and close windows that are out of reach.
    2. I use them to get up of the sofa
    3. If i am sitting on the sofa and something falls of the table i can use one to drag it closer to me so i can grab it
    4. Poking my adopted brother when he cant hear me or if i want a drink
    5. Sometimes one gets kidnapped by adopted mum if she cant reach something (shes only four foot something) she cant reach in the cupbords
    6. turning lightswitch on and of
    7. knocking things of the top shelf if no one around to help me

There are many more, too many to list but they are very usefull. Dont know what OT would say if i told them about everything I use them for lol

Crutches are indeed great for lots of things….

Several of us used crutches and walking sticks to help
getting up from chairs / sofas etc……

Often this has been solved by bringing to OT’s attention
and they raise the Sofa a few inches using blocks. Might
not sound it but it has made a big difference in my case.

Sounds like a good idea. What about using a long handled hairbrush or a large towell as a back scratcher?

Just discovered another dual use item today. I have one of those contour knee pillows with the velco strap to keep it in place when you turn from side-to-side….anyway it’s not quite thick enough for my liking so last night as it was just laying doing nothing I put it under my elbow while in bed on the laptop and it was a very good prop!

A snapette discovered on the wonderous facebook .. ingenious thinking

I have one or two of these hangers, might use one to hold my crochet/cross stitch patterns and hang them off the back of the dining chair that is infront of me acting as a foot stool.

that is just a brill idea – I could do that with my music sheets when playing iPad piano rather than balancing them (don’t own a music stand any more)…. :D

My Dressing Stick makes a superb window opener.
My Perching Stick (very long walking stick) is good for testing the smoke alarms.

    Below is Phaedra the Flamingo

    She has three uses.

She keeps my clean handkerchiefs in her neck

My lovely warm gloves in her tummy

and as you can see she is a great lookout.

(she was named after Phaedra the OT lady who gave me all the gadges)

Walls, wardrobes & my Mum & Dad’s bed from the spare bedroom…

A wall is a wall. It holds the roof up & we thank it by adorning it with our memories in pictures but, mine not only has to wear my cherished pics of ‘The King’, a print of the White Hart Line stadium, a framed shirt printed with the mega rare scoreline of “Germany 1 – 5 England” & a huge print of Don Corleone (Marlon, not Al). No, mine also has to support me. My furniture is strategically placed as such that when my recliner rises the immediate wall in front of me is less than two feet away & I almost fall onto it to continue to from the seated position to standing. It also bears the scars of when I’ve failed (huge score lines, perfectly arched, from the top arcing right as I’ve slid down :D ).

In the bedroom, same situation, wardrobe is placed so, just beside bed & I use the same method in order to try stand.

And Mum & Dad’s guess bed… long after all their kids moved out, my parents made each room suitable for guests. I unfortunately had to move back home in between homes for a while. The bed I slept on was a single bunk bed on top of a folding sofa/double bed. Sleeping on the double bed below, I use the frame of the metal bedstead to pull myself up, roll & adjust my position. When I moved out again they said I could take it with me. I’ve been offered a rising/reclining/tilting bed but, I prefer mine & I’m used to it now.

So, dual purpose walls, beds & wardrobes in my house ;) . Not really hints. Only hint I have got that’s no real secret, as I struggle more & more wrestling with the ironing board, I find that if I hang my trousers in particular (cargos are a pain to iron cos of the pockets) & shirts in the bathroom before, during & after I’ve showered, because of the heat & steam, most of the creases drop out.

of peace and safety and no worries, unlike the rest of the world.

Ah, well being a long & suffering Spurs fan it could be argued that ‘The King’ was Alan Gilzean, he was fondly known as the king of WHL I’m told by me Dad. Of course I do mean Elvis but, I have a framed picture of four famous Spurs teams, most notably the double winning side of course. I’ve also been fortunate enough to collect about ten autographed glossy pictures of current players but, I’m waiting to be moved & then I can judge where they will go. They all need to be framed which is an outlay I’m not looking forward to :o.

I truly wish players did still go for that sort of money Mr Fox & were paid less. They might play for the shirt then instead of the pound. Bill Nicholson used to tell his players they should be paying him to wear the Spurs shirt, I know I would !

Actually, that reminds me of an email I got once from the club. They were offering you the chance to warm up on the pitch & train before the last game of the season for a small fee. I can’t tell you how excited I was. I thought even if I was able to waddle onto the hallowed turf & try & kick one ball it would be a dream come true…

turns out it was only for bloomin kids, I was gutted & felt a prize t…ool

One of the happiest days of my life was watching the 1967 cup final with Gilly and his team mates
beating the evil Ron Harris’s Chelsea. For years I could recite that Spurs team. Was a fan till Jimmy left.

The 66 world final and the 67 final were the first TV programmes I saw, so remain indelibly
etched on my memory (we finally got one of our own in 1970).

Spent one day of my life at WHL as a pilgrimage.

It’s like that for me every time ago & hard work to get there too. The last time I went was the day the riots started which is amusing to all that know me (I know it’s a serious subject in reality). They said “you go to WHL for the first time in ten years & they throw a riot for ya !”. My mate took me for the last preseason friendly before the season started. We had a minibus with the tail lift for the chariot because you can’t get down to the tube from Marylebone. I’ve never been on public transport yet but, it doesn’t seem to be easy around London. I’ll have to find an alternative cos the minibus was £150.

Would dearly love to go again & see Gareth Bale play (he came on as a sub in the game I saw but, it wasn’t competitive) before the inevitable. I do envy you having seen a Bill Nicholson team. I was born in North Middlesex hospital in ’71 & we lived round the corner from WHL, hence my devotion. The hairs raise on my neck every time I turn into the High Road from White Hart Lane (the stadium isn’t actually in WHL at all) & see the stadium towering above all around it & the swarms of people – I love it. Don’t do it nearly often enough

Liked Nicholson, really disliked Tommy Docherty.

Glad I did not have to get around London in a chair, all too much and too busy, the people
are never there when you need them.

Had one operation at North Middlesex Hospy when living in NW10 in 1979.

It’s never ending isn’t it. Some of those comments are indefensible. “Parasite”, “can’t be in much pain” & then they take to commenting on his appearance & jumper. Charmers (Sarcastic).

The internet is a wonderful thing. Not that I took the time to explain to my troll but, from my waking moment until I go to bed my pc is on. It’s my window to the world because all my friends are able bodied & work. I’m able too see & speak to my Estonian lady friend every day, normally several times a day, on the webcam. I can speak to my nieces, do shopping, write on forums etc. etc. but, the down side is the evolution of the troll or keyboard warrior I call them  . It gives some, a minority, the platform to vent their prejudiced & ignorant view of the world.

I found myself trying to aid another disabled chap on my local paper’s site yet again today because the trolls had rounded on him. I argued that a racist is not allowed to poison such a public forum with his views but, all & sundry think it’s open season on the less abled. This is nothing short of a hate crime to my mind. The worst comments I reported & they were removed. I vowed not to go back but, I can’t just idly sit & watch & read utter clap trap from people with an unjust agenda. It angers me. And to think I live amongst these people, that makes me desperately sad.

Thanks your support Woogy. Much appreciated.

You make all the right points about “open season” on the vulnerable who cannot defend themselves.

To back you up, this newspaper did actually refuse to put on two of my comments. They said
I was promoting “Hate” !!!!!! Why? Because two of my comments included the word “Hate”. When
I looked I had made the point that the last year was the worst for “Disability Hate Crime”. I made
the point that their censor was allowing through people who accuse the judges of corruption,
and accuse a man found innocent of being a horrible criminal. I only was allowed to repost
by rephrasing it to “worst year for Crimes Against The Disabled”.

Glad you supported your disabled man and actually got a couple of the worst points
removed. I did not and had to remove words from mine, but it just spurred me on till
    no one was quibbling anymore.
