Diabetic patients suffering from lack of care-are we too

It was revealed in the papers recently that around an extra 7000 diabetic patients are dying a year through lack of proper care. as a diabetic I can confirm the quality of care for me ay least it appalling. Does anyone think we with MD might be suffering from the same, serious, problem?

Not sure, Mike, it isn’t anything I have thought about too much. The thing is, apart from an annual review, what can be done if there is no cure?

I have had tremendous help with regards to claiming the benefits I am entitled to. The genetics nurse really went out of her way in that department.

I agree that there is currently no cure but a significant input of money may well help. When women footballers won a competition all of a sudden £600m was found to improve sports facilities at schools. More could be done to help reduce pain problems. I believe a recent survey found 75% of patients with FHSD had pain. I guess other types of MD may well have noticeable sufferers. I claimed DLA many years ago, and have never claimed for changes because the local assessors at least have no understanding of MD. My son’s was taken off him (he has FHSD) because of lies that were put down during the assessment. For example he showed no evidence of the condition despite the fact his shoulders are noticeably affected. I could go on but it may sound like I am bleating. I believe more could be done, and can be done, with the right will.
