    Confused about results and tests

I’ve not long started tests for muscle weakness but I’m really confused. In his letter to doctors he said legs were 3/5 and arms 4-/5. He is questioning beckers carrier as I have large calf muscles or a congenital myopathy. My ck levels is normal but vitamin d is 20 so he put me on high dose for 7 weeks. At the emg test they said definitely showed myopathies but I don’t have the report yet. Could this just be a case of vitamin deficiency? As the ck levels are normal and I thought that the levels were usually high. Any help would be appreciated thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum. Your questions are really for the doctors who are looking after you as they will be best placed to advise as they have all the results and training to do that. It is very easy to reach out and grasp hold of one result and think it may then be the cause of your problems. Clearly they have done the right thing by requesting EMG tests, and you should wait until the report is back before you start to get too worried about matters. Have you been referred to a neurologist yet? Have you noticed if your symptoms are worsening?
You will have follow up appointments which will make things more clear for you. In the meantime please try not to worry too much. When you have the full diagnosis then you medical people can help you sort out your symptoms. I would also caution you to stay away from Mr Google. Without a full understanding of what is going on the false directions in which an internet search can lead oyu may well do more ham than good.

Thanks. Yes the neurologist sent me for the emg. I’ve had echocardiogram and spirometry tests as well. Muscle biopsy has been mentioned both at the beginning with neurologist and the registrar and consultant who did the emg test. So a case of wait and see. Thanks for the help and advise

For the moment it is wait and see. Once you have a definitive diagnosis then you can put all your effort into finding out about that. But please do keep us appraised of your progress.
