Carers could earn ‘credits’ towards own future care

Not sure if this is right section of the board but thought members here would possibly have some views on this.

A scheme allowing people who help the elderly or disabled to earn time credits for their own care later in life is being considered by ministers, it emerged today.

The Government is examining whether a form of the care credit system, which successfully operates in Japan, could also work in the UK.

Why do I get the feeling the government could use this as a cop out to provide care!!

Because it won’t cost them anything!

I saw the BBC report and remained unconvinced. The idea comes from Japan where they have a culture of honouring their ancestors and, by extension, the elderly. Such a thing doesn’t exist here anymore.

I wonder whoi gets your credits if you die before you get to the age that qualifies for care?

And what happens to those who don’t want to take part in the scheme?
