    Staying active!

I am really excited to have some expert coaches for both Boccia and Seated Yoga joining us at the next muscle groups in Ashford (24th July 2019) and East Grinstead (26th July 2019). Let me know by emailing me on j.rackham@musculardystrophyuk.org if you would like to come.

What activities do you take part in to keep active?

    Hi Joel.

I play Boccia and wheelchair football.

Nice to see Boccia making an appearance at your muscle group. I’ve been playing the last 2-3 years and have noticed benefit in my motor coordination and maintaining upper body strength. Also seeing the benefits in young males with DMD.

    whats Boccia?
Boccia is a sport similar to carpet bowels. Is played seated by throwing a light ball onto a target ball (jack) you can also use a ramp or feet to propel ball onto the court. Our TeamGB champ has MD.

For anyone in Scotland. take a look at Disability sport Scotland to find your local group.

    Hello

I stay active at my home I have a Wii fit and I saw some videos on the YouTube.
Boccia is a very interesting and difficult sport. I did a work for my school years ago about it. I talked to a Portuguese Olympic Champion at the time and tried to do it myself and it was so difficult.

My dad is playing wheelchair football also, but any kind of activity is very important for both physical and mental health. There are tons of useful articles and videos with various exercises so you can surely find something suited for you.
