Raising Funds for a Muscular Dystrophy Assistance Fund

    Hi,

My name is Stuart Irvine and I have been recently preliminarily diagnosed with Miyoshi Myopathy.

This has hit me hard as I used to play professional football and my health and training has been a massive part of my life for so long, I also have a young son of 4 years old and not being able to run around and teach him things like football is breaking my heart.

While I don’t think I will ever get used to the fact I will need to try and live with this condition best I can, I believe I can start something significant to help people affected by all types of Muscular Dystrophies.

I want to create a community and hub for people to get financial support and grants direct from my charity to assist with daily living needs, as I understand the impacts this can have on hard working individuals… and I also understand government support is occasionally very hard to get and also very rarely adequate.

I am in the process of starting a charity however in the interim I have a Go Fund Me page to get the ball rolling, get an online presence built and advertise this to the wider UK so once the charity is formed I will be in a good place to start helping people in real terms.

I hope this doesn’t go against community guidelines as all I am trying to do is help people in a similar situation to myself and in a lot of cases much worse than myself.

    Regards

    Stuart

The link for the Go Fund Me page is below, unfortunately the site doesn’t allow me to edit my original comment.
