Muscle spasms
I have been having muscle spasms for some time now, usually in my back or shoulders. This is most often brought on when I stretch or turn my upper body, especially on the toilet or in the shower.
Is it worth contacting my OT over this? I had a particularly bad spasm last week on the toilet and am suffering still. It hurts when I even cough.
There are self cleaning toilets available but they cost several thousand pounds. I just get the feeling that I will be fobbed off with some sort of cheap alternative. I can’t see them financing such a grand piece of equipment. All my PIP goes on running my car, I have literally no spare cash to buy anything myself.
If it comes to the crunch, I might have to ask my parents to help out. I am reluctant to do this as they are elderly and in need of help themselves.Reply To: Muscle spasmsHi Ranald
Yes your OT should be able to supply a wash/dry bidet toilet seat aid to your own toilet that should only take small amount of plumbing and electrics. When making case suggest to them that it will aid your ongoing independence without needing council toileting carer support.
If its new spasms maybe ask GP to check bloods. I was having unusual spasm and it turns out me Folic, B12 and something else was not right. Its worth having it checked. Again if the back pain when coughing is new I would inform GP.
