Hello I am researching life insurance for my son who has mild DM1. Does anyone know of a good life insurance company that he could use?

For travel Fish, MIA and bluebadge have provided single trip at pricy sum. Fish used to have a connection with Friends of MDUK so underwriters where a bit more wiling to acknowledge individuals condition at the time rather the the worst case for all.
When calling trying not to give details till you get idea for likely hood of them having a product. One you do a profile with them and it goes to underwriters then all companies can see it. Reducing the likely hood of a competitive offer.

My son and I have had predictive tests for Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1 and no symptoms as yet so it’s very frustrating if we are penalised for this and wouldn’t have been diagnosed if some other relatives didn’t have more severe symptoms. Hardly anyone seems to understand these predictive tests!
It was good to hear from you and I will let you know how we get on.
It was lovely to get a reply from you and I wish you well in these very difficult times. Maryx

It is often common or has been in my case for insurance companies Travel at least to only liken my condition to Duchene. As my MD is rare. It is very frustrating. I have never heard of productive tests. I assumed you tested positive or negative
These times are certainly very challenging more so with winter making going out all that more challenging.
November 20, 2020 at 9:37 am #191066Reply To: Life InsuranceThanks Cat – we have had predictive tests for Myotonic Dystrophy Type ! which is a genetic disease. No-one in my immediate family has symptoms but we only got tested because my niece who does have symptoms was diagnosed. Apparently there is some legislation to say that we don’t have to declare this for insurance but it still seems a bit of a grey area and we are still working on it!
I came across a company called Futureproofinsurance.co.uk who seem to specialise in medical conditions and we are waiting for them to get back to us – I don’t know if they might be helpful for you in the future.
