    Knee Pain

Just wondered if anyone still ambulant, has pain in their knees as they walk. I have walked with straight legs for years now, and often find every step uncomfortable, just like many I would imagine; but lately I am having shooting pains through my knees, and a sensation that they tried to bend backwards after my foot hits the ground. Not every step, but quite often all the same.

Anyone else had any experience of this?

Not quite like that Ranald but the pain in my knees is currently the worst I have, unrelieved by any of my pain killers, even medical cannabis. I find I have to wear knee braces to stop them moving about too much. My knees are also locking up when in bed an d the pain to get them mobile again is beyond description. I can still bend my legs, not very far, but they do bend, but I can only take small steps, almost shuffle, when I can walk. Mostly though its wheels for me now.
I should add that I have had x-rays done on the knees and all is well, so I believe it is just my joints becoming more loose as the MD allows the muscles etc to relax more.

Glad I saw this post. I’m having similar issues with my knees. Was blaming possible arthritis but perhaps my condition is more to blame as it’s currently flaring up.

Lately, when I try to stand up from my armchair, I end up in the “skiing” position, my knees not wanting to take me the whole way up. I plonk down onto my bum again, and try once more in a few minutes.

Things seem to be developing all of a sudden, after years of almost unnoticed change.

I suppose these little issues are just another hurdle to clear. We adapt and carry on.

Just lately I’ve been getting pain flare ups everywhere, I do have arthritis in one knee which was repaired a couple of years ago but now more painful than before the repair.but do get pain in both knees.tried doing some exercises at beginning of lock down but made it worse.so is lock down part of the problems with our flare ups. I suspect that lock down helps us to concentrate our minds on ourselves more as we are spending so much time at home. It could be part and aprcel of our MD problems and for me, at least, it could be simply old age but the x ray images deny that.
