Kidney damage due to high ck levels

Hi as I am aware creatine kinase levels above >6000 IU/L leads to kidney damage / renal failure

With muscular dystrophy the creatine kinase levels are raised, my levels are around 7000 to 8500.

Is kidney damage common with any members here?

    Hi and welcome to Forum

I wasn’t aware of that link. have you asked your Doctor directly about it?

I have no idea what my CK level was tbh, I just got told I had Becker MD and that I would get an annual review with a neurologist, and my daughters would get “genetic counselling”; I am not aware that anything of the suchlike ever took place.
I’m afraid I have never been advised about kidney damage, although the 100 units+ of alcohol I drink weekly will no doubt be damaging my kidneys! I do however get an ECG done every few years.

A review of the medical literature gives, surprisingly, no easy answer here. Clearly it is a multifactorial problem that can be affected by lifestyle, as Ranald has indicated, exercise levels and of course MD as just a few factors. Of one thing you can be certain, if your GP becomes concerned that damage is being done then he/she will take steps to mitigate the problem. If you are concerned then , as Cat has already said, go pay your GP a visit and discuss your concerns.
