    Im Going On Holiday

Hi ive decided to take a holiday with the family overseas, I am in a wheelchair and the flight is about 8 hours long. Now this is my first holiday in 10 yrs that involves flying (god help me)… lol . I know the only problem I face is going for a pee the tiolets on them plaines are not made for us disabled people. Now what is the best way or product avaliable that will allow me to pee discreetly. I will have members of the family with me but still would be good to know if theres something avaliable. Cheers

 all you would be short of is a neon sign above your head saying inflight entertainment.

peeing in your seat into a pee bottle etc may be managible if your a guy, but peeps may wounder whats going on under the blanket  no idea how a woman could pull this off without flashing the plane.

if you can hobble and are a girl what about one of them shewee gadgets . save you from sitting in the tiny loo and getting stuck.

What about a temp cathiter and bladder bag for the journey going.. It would at least get you there. and you wouldnt have to compromise on fluid intake. 10 hours is too long to go without drinking.

YehI need to get this right as I did this trip about 12 years ago, I was able to stand up then and (hobble) :D, went to the pee at manchester airport. Drank just sips on the trip, when the jet landed almost 10 hours I got up and managed to pee on the plane, but realised that not having enough fluids made me very ill, i didnt get out of bed for 8 days. This time im travelling 1st class so il have a bit of privacy as il be seated on the front, i cant walk or stand at all now so im buggered when i need a pee

When I flew to Singapore I couldn’t use the loo’s either (12hr flight) so I used incontinence pads well actually they more like adult nappies! Under my trousers no-one knew I was wearing one! I did have a practice pee in one at home  very strange! Anyway it was a precautionary measure just incase.

Just do what Gerard Departieu does. I hear the carpet is quite absorbent. :o

Seriously though, these devices are used by girls at music festivals etc.

What about peeing into your choice of container that has the special gel that reacts with urine (I believe it turns the liquid into gel, is silent and kills the odour). I wish they had it in commodes at hospitals as I hate that ‘I’m peeing’ sound! I get all embarrassed and then can’t go! Wish I was a man – I’d go with that coloplast thing?

I have same ‘can’t pee’ problem when I visit people who don’t have accessible loos. I think for women though who can’t stand or grasp things etc then we are yet to see an easy and no spill guaranteed method. Being a guy you perhaps have more options?

I see this is an older thread, but thought it might be worth adding my bit anyway just incase anyone comes across this in the future :) There’s a new condom catheter that I’ve heard from users they seem to quite like!

Just been on their website and seen they also have a blog about going on holiday with a catheter. Might be some useful bits to take away, definitely around going through airport security and being checked in a way that’s sensitive and considerate (even though it should go without saying).
