September 19, 2020 at 1:01 pm #189849Reply To: BedHello and welcome. I would make two comments here. When my parents were dying they wanted to do so at home, so the local council supplied beds for them each time, both were metal, hospital beds with the associated structures. It was done to make it easier for the nurses etc., who cared for them. If you have ever spent any time in a hospital bed you will know they were not built for comfort. This brings me to the second point, why do the OT’s want you to have that sort of bed? Is it for ease of access for carers? Is it for ease of getting in and out for you? Is it for better support? Is it because of your request? Knowing the reason will help you determine what beds you consider. However, I would stress that whatever bed you choose in the end, if it does not meet the support people’s needs it is possible that they would withdraw care. I know this has happened before. So do choose with all the factors considered.

Thanks for reply, the reason for the new bed is to make it easier to get in and out of raise my back and feet. My current bed has been raised to it’s maximum height any higher and it i will not be able to get in it plus will be dangerous.
Thanks

Certainly worth exploring other options, as you do see many beds advertised from time to time that will do that for you. Perhaps a more in depth discussion with the OTs would help as they may well be constrained to use only a ‘standard’ type of adjustable bed to save money.

My ot this far has been fantastic hertfordshire.
They have so far got funding for a closemat wash and dry toilet with riser seat and a shower bench that rises up

September 25, 2020 at 1:37 pm #189924Reply To: BedThis is a very good and valid question.
My elderly cousin refused an electric profiling bed because
it was a “Hospital Bed”. Later she was forced to get
one and now thinks it is wonderful.I have had one since 2014 and it is absolutely marvellous. The moment
you have all your own bedding on if it looks completely different.
The main issue by far has been the incredible functions of the bed
which enable you to change every height and angle at the press of
a button. Get on at one height, get off at another whatever
suits you. You can even move the different sections independently
depending on the aches and pains you have. I would not be without mine.In our area people seem to be getting this one, the Sidhil Solite.
As you can see it is quite expensive. People who buy cheaper
ones that look like normal divan type beds often find they
do not have the full range of functions…."Even if you are not paranoid, it does not mean they are not out to get you!".

Glad you have made this progress.Looked it up, that is a fully functional bed, you will have no problems!
Dare I ask are they giving you a “Rise and Recline” chair too?

October 1, 2020 at 10:19 am #190010Reply To: BedIt’s great but the mattress is taking some adjustment my back pain seems to be more focused between hips and lower back and not referring itself up my whole back.
As for rising and recline chair I have one already had to buy myself, expensive as you may know due to needing to be vertical lifting.
Paperwork for wetrook closmatt wash dry and rising toilet gone to housing association for approval so fingers crossed it gets approved fingers crossed
