Are You Safe ?…….
Someone raised the question of fire safety when an MD person is at college.
Just thought that most of us spend so much time at home maybe that should be the focus of
safety questions. Care and Repair do a Safety Examination for me every couple of years but
that is limited to tripping issues, adding safety grab rails, advice on disability gadgets
and better layouts.The Fire Service came about four years ago and explained the logic of “Fire Doors”. This is any door you have but
it must close completely and securely. Then it will keep any fire at bay for twenty minutes and the Fire people
with their normal response times will rescue you. You stay low call 999 and you will not have a problem. Especially
Peeps with limited mobility if you start opening doors fire will spread catastrophically. Three of my
fire doors were blocked and unable to close. All rectified now.This year The Fire Service brought an electrical safety expert with them. I failed the exam ! Two things
illegal, one dangerous. I had been quite happy with my Mr Fixit who is cheap does everything and does not
bother with bits of paper or safety certificates.One week later new main circuit board fitted, two new sockets, ten ancient extension leads and twelve old
adapters thrown away. Five surge and spike protected extension leads bought. Suddenly I am safe and
have certificates to prove it. Best £ 300 pounds I have even spent.Never thought about all this stuff before.

He wants to use me as an example in the press of how people do not understand about

The fire peeps has educated and helped me. Then photo session with burly firemen
handing over smoke alarms and leaflets to tiny stooped crippo. Interestingly they were
re arranging things to get as many walking sticks and safety grab rails into shot
as possible.Then they tripped off without giving me the smoke alarms. The one you have is fine!

The came and gave me good advice and they have talked it up
to saving me from fire and brimstone.Now I am the safest house in the Road.

We have a “TYPO”!
I am in the press with everyone in town getting the wrong into.
They were supposed to type…….has “limited mobility”, but they have
typed “limited ability”. Makes me sound some kind of Doofus.Had nice apology this morning but they are not sending anyone
to knock on 30,000 doors.They also missed the Neuro off Neuromuscular. But what can you do? At least
I did not mention anything about my beloved aunt.We did agree that the most important thing was them getting the message out

Nice apology and we are all happy and singing from the same
hymn sheet. We are all agreed, it is much better to get to get a safety examination than
